DFI : Week 8 Computational Thinking
Defining the difference between digital fluency and digital technologies: was really useful.
Digital fluency - being able to decide when and where to use specific digital technologies to complete atask or solve a problem.is very different than digital technology as tht meant havingthe skill set to create their own. rather tahnn following a code ...building it
This week taking the time together to reflect on where our own individual schools are at with the implementation of the digral curriculum and to discuss what it looks like in different spaces for different ages was great. To explore examples.
I enjoyed having a wee play. The coding format in the Mihi maker was very user friendly. Unfortunately I cant find it agin this must mean I didn't save it properly, so sorry I can't share what I had created so far. As a group we found this app for sharing our Mihi a liitle bit template based and reflected that perhaps it would not contain the flexibility that we utilise when we are creaating our Mihi's as teachers and for our students. Although it did not show 'blanks' if you didnt have enough information to fill it all in.
I will investigate the ,Gamefroot Site' again on the advice of a DFI buddy that 'Blank Games' option if selected really appeals to the students as they are creating their own. The Tutorials provided with the site are very detailed and useful.

Week 7: DFI Devices - Using Explain Everything to promote Quality blog posts for my students
Great advice to action in our learning space- providing the opportunity for our learners to practise joining and being part of a google meet.
To remove potential barriers to them joining us from home.
Reflecting on what worked well for us during lockdown and what we could have done better in our team at school. to improve future buy in.
For me I was thinking how I prefer to see and hear an actual person I know for teachers this could be a barrier so how do we support and remove it as one?
Also reflecting on my students who have a lot of absence due to poor health and factors outside of their control and when the device is not their own a school one
Having a wee playing with 'Explain Everything: using the different coloured drawing pencils, photo, video and voice recordings. To help my learners make quality Blog posts

WK 6 - Learning Sites
This week it was great to have the time to look at our own learning sites and also look at other sites to get some new ideas.
I decided to have a wee play with our timetable as we received some feedback via the google forms we all completed on each others sites. I agreed and felt that it would be very beneficial to add the links onto the timetable from each of our curriculum areas so that the students have multiple ways to access the different parts of the site.
I also went with a one colour as a theme and would like some feedback on what is more pleasing to the eye.
Secondly I added some subject buttons onto our home page on my own 'copy of the site' to experiment with these. The aim as to also give the students another access point as well as the tabs on the home page header.

DFI Week 5
This week I really enjoyed collaborating and creating a Matariki site to use in my learning space later in the term. Especially the huge variety of learn, create and share activities that many brains working at the same time could put together.
My biggest takeaways this week were the many tips and tricks around making your site more appealing to the students and I am really looking forward to next week.
